Up!

1 comment:
We went to see this last night, it's SO CUTE!!  Definitely 2 thumbs up from everyone, we didn't go see it in 3D (it usually doesn't do that much for me but annoy me with those glasses....)  Everyone was giggling at different points of the movie a definite plus considering we are diverse in age.  So if you want to go to the movies and have a good time go see it! :)

Bunch of stuff....

2 comments:
don't ya just love the title?  uh, ya not really creative with the words this morning....
So yesterday I ordered a BUNCH of pictures from snapfish (love that place).  I'm sort of excited because I will have fresh pictures!  Not that I got all of my other pictures in my tin scrapped... I tend to 'sort of' match my pictures to the paper--sort of....Anyway, there are some pictures I want to be able to use with my June kit from Scrapbook Circle, it's called Amusement Park, isn't it FABULOUS!!  I played a little yesterday:
You can't really tell from the picture to well, but there is some mesh that I have had FOREVER on the bottom (I hand sewed it on.) with some stamped images (I know don't fall of your chair--I stamped) and there are some Kaiser pearls and jewels on there too.  I cut this tag out with my cricut.  I think I am starting to get on a tag kick.  They are so fun, it's like a card but not!

supplies used:
cricut--tag
pattern paper: Cosmo Cricket, Fancy Pants
stamps: Stampin' up, $1 stamps Michaels
pearls & jewels: Kaiser
button: bargain bag from somewhere
ribbon: from my stash

I also played with my May kit from Scrapbook Circle, Simply delightful
I think I've almost used all the scraps up, or I'm close!  I took my Whale of a punch scallop and punched a 'sun' then with my circle punch I punched and flipped the paper and stamped on it.  I like the rays they are just snips of paper rolled up.  For the grass, I measured the bottom of the card and cut my cardstock, then I snipped away and inked up.  I even used fun foam!  I drew my cloud and then cut around it--easy peasy,  I've never used it really for cards or layouts--it's fun!

supplies used:
cardstock: Bazzill
flowers: Making Memories
punch: Ek Success
pattern paper: Pebbles
buttons: um totally not sure but from my stash
fun foam: bought it at Michaels 100 years ago
jewels: kaiser
stamp: stampin' up; it reads: Live in Sunshine it can't rain all the time.

Well, I had better get at the day I hear sounds of life from upstairs, they will be needing something soon.  Thanks for stopping by!

Flower

2 comments:
Okay, I realized that I never really shared how to make those beautifully flowers!  What's up with that?!  I did on the tip of the day for Scrapbook Circle but never here on my own blog.  So here we go:

1. trace your flower on your paper. (make sure that there are bigger and smaller ones.) I traced 8 flowers on this flower.
2. cut your flowers out.
3. crumble up your flowers.
4. distress with ink on the edges and the folded parts.
5. start to glue the flowers together with the larger pieces on the bottom.
6. Once your flower is layered up, glue your desired center.  This time I chose a jewel....
This is such a fun technique and you will be surprised how often you will use it. Thanks for stopping by today!

Busy girl!--and my own toot!

2 comments:
okay, yesterday's post was a quickie I do have one more layout and a story to share.  First here is the layout, from the most FABULOUS June kit at Scrapbook Circle:
I know I scrapped this photo before but I had another one and it was perfect for this kit.  My journaling is around the edges as to not take away from anything....And it's true this little boy makes me LAUGH!

pattern paper: Cosmo Cricket, Fancy pants
trim: Fancy pants
chipboard letters: Basic Grey, Sassafrass Lass
card: Sassafrass Lass
sewing, staples
brads: Making Memories
rubons: Jenni Bowlin
border: Bazzill

okay, now for my story that is not scrapbook related in anyway, or maybe it should be.....anyway....My ice maker went out on my 3 year old fridge!  I was very upset, I HAVE to have cold water!   I live in a VERY hot place it has already been 107 degrees this week.  Imagine not having cold water.....yeah I know, HORRIBLE!   This went on for a couple of weeks, and I am dying having to go to the store and buy ice (good thing I can get a 25 lb. bag for $2.79!) it's just annoying though.  Anyway, DH usually the handy man wasn't getting to it as fast as I wanted him to.  So, I researched it out and realized that (basically) the sensors were broken, the whole ice machine worked it just didn't know that it had ice and needed to put it in the collector thingy (yes a technical term!).  Well, I found a place that had the part, ordered it.  The part came yesterday and with DH help we replaced the electronic parts that were broken.  And yes, I hear that BEAUTIFUL sound of ice being made again.  I was SO proud/surprised of myself for figuring it out!  I just had to give myself a TOOT--and share!  Yes, you to can be a super hero in your own home! :)--ok, that was just plain cheesy...
Thanks for stopping by, hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Teacher's aid--graduation gifts

4 comments:
so, yesterday I worked on gifts for youngest DS teacher's aids (there are 3!)  They are really simple but I really like how they turned out.  I printed the pictures at home at 2 x 2 size, and then cut tags with my cricut.  The mattes that the pictures were on are also cut from the cricut.  One of the best parts!  I used up ALL of an old kit I had.  Because there were only 14 kids in his class I was able to use 8 sheets of Pattern paper.  Once the tags were cut, I mounted the
pictures on them and then glued them together back to back--it made them more sturdy---I then stamped their names on scraps.  The cool thing I took from the project for the teacher the things that each of the kids liked and wrote them in.
For privacy sake I only am showing the pages I did of my son...
I REALLY enjoyed the process even though it took me a while.  I came up with various ideas in my mind when I make more of these!
This is one of the gift bags that I made for the teacher's gifts:
again the paper are from scraps, and the thanks was cut with my cricut.
I got a graduation announcement from one of my 'old' Young Women (I used to work in my church's youth group--it's called Young Women)  I made her this journal:
This FABULOUS paper is DCWV!  Couldn't believe the stack when I saw it.  The lined paper I figured out how to do and print on 6 x6 paper.  (I'm telling you MACS ROCK!!--this one sure is making things so much easier!)  The big K is from Basic Grey, Ribbon is fancy pants I think..the letters are Scrap Works.  I've gotta run for now, sorry I've been a bad blogger.  I've been busy with end of the year stuff for my kiddos and making stuff!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

May 18th!

2 comments:
May 18, 1980--ring a bell?  For my family it ALWAYS does....it's the day Mt. St. Helen's erupted.  We lived in the eastern part Washington state at the time,  it was Sunday I was 7....I remember getting ready for church and going to the front door and my dad standing there telling my brother to go lock the doors on the car.  I couldn't understand why it was so dark.  My brother came back inside with what to me looked like snow on his jacket.  I couldn't process that either.  Then my parents explained what had happened, my mom filling the tubs & sinks with water.  I remember not being able to go outside FOREVER (probably a few days)  But when you did go outside you had to wear a mask.  It sure made me realize even then that Heavenly Father's hand is in ALL things.

I got a jury summons, I had to call Friday if I had to go in today.  The number eliminated some groups but then I had to call again today, LUCKILY I didn't have to go!  I was trying to figure out how I was going to get to every one's parties and things (this is the kiddos last week of school).  Now I don't have to worry!  DH was sweet enough to work from home today 'just in case'.  Prayers are answered!

So, I tried out for my little shoebox.  there were 400 applicants, I didn't make it. BUT I LOVE this layout I did for it!
supplies used:
pattern paper: My little shoebox
letters: making memories

Split pea soup & more....

2 comments:
I am SO excited!  I made split pea soup last night dinner.  I've never made it before, and it turned out great!
EVERYONE went back for seconds.  youngest DS even told me I needed to make it again for dinner tonight.  yeah!

Here's the recipe:
2 cups dried split peas (1 pound)
2 quarts water
1 ham bone (you can substitute 1 lb. ham shank or ham hocks for the ham bone)
1 cup minced celery
1 medium onion finely chopped
1 sprig of parsley (I used dry)
1/4 teaspoon pepper

heat peas and water to boiling; boil gently 2 minutes.  Remove from heat; cover and let stand 1 hour.

Add remaining ingredients.  heat to boiling.  Reduce heat and simmer 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until peas are very
 soft.

Remove bone; trim meat from bone and add to soup.  If desired thin with milk or water.  Season to taste.

Here are some tips I learned, PAY ATTENTION!!
--I did step one great, and intended to put it in the crock pot to simmer that 3 hour stint because I had a bunch of other things to do.  Well, I got it in the crock pot and FORGOT to pl
ug it in!  Duh!  Luckily DH called and said he would be later for dinner.  Perfect timing, I simmered it on
the stove top and got it done in time.  Had leftover dinner rolls from Sunday and that was it!  Yeah for EASY!
Okay, now for the more part.  The books I'm making for my kids' teachers are almost completed, (just
waiting for a couple of pages from DD class--she's in charge of distributing and collecting and assembling
her book)  Here are the examples: **they are SUPER simple!  I wanted it to be about the kids**
The pages I created on my computer, the paper is from the May kit at Scrapbook Circle.  Each student's picture was taken and printed out at 2" x 3".  The each book measure at 5" x 7".
supplies used:
pattern paper: Fancy Pants
flowers: Bazzill, prima
jewels: Michaels
Letters: Cricut opposites attract
bind-it-all

**I forgot to mention that each of the kids in the class will be adding their own page to the book**

I'm really pleased with how they have turned out and the fact that my kids have been part of the process.  Need to run for now, thanks for stopping by today!

1 comment:
So my cute youngest son brings me a postal box yesterday morning, I'm thinking what is this-a mother's day gift?  I noticed the box isn't taped together so it's not repackaged, I noticed it was from Two peas.  I haven't ordered anything....Guess what?  There was a note attached from the manager congratulating me on winning a prize from National Scrapbooking Day!  I couldn't believe it!  This paper is AWESOME!!  Yep, just like the April kit from Scrapbook Circle--yeah more fun paper to play with!  The only stipulation I need to share what I create with it.  I don't think that will be to big of a problem.
Thank you Two Peas in a Bucket!  Just had to share, thanks for stopping by!

Happy Mother's Day!--Creative Scrappers reveal--

2 comments:
Okay, this is the card I got from my kid's.  I really was laughing--seriously!!
I got breakfast in bed and the kitchen was ALL cleaned up this morning.  I am spoiled!  My kid's have been making me sweet little pictures for the last couple of days.  I definitely feel loved.

Friday I went to the school for muffins with mom with my kindergartner, songs were sung and a bio of what my son thought that I am.  For example, I am 20 years old with orange eyes--(the orange eyes was my favorite!--to funny...)  I hope everyone is have a Happy Mother's Day!

Today was also the reveal for Creative Scrappers sketch #51  here is my take:
I really did have a lot of fun, because the paper and pictures were so fun.  I even did a few new things like adding a LARGE piece of chipboard (the circle) and the paper gathering.  These pictures were taken at young DS cookies on the polar express at Christmas time.  Can you tell he likes it when I take his picture?
Supplies used:
pattern paper: Sassafrass lass
chipboard: Fancy Pants
stickers: sassafrass lass
letter stickers: American crafts
jewels: unknown
other: machine sewing
Better run for now, I appreciate you stopping by!  Hope you make it a good one.

Happy day!  My day started off with cutting coupons and grocery shopping at 3 grocery stores!  hey, we have food--EVERYONE is happy now! :)  Anyway after all that we picked up a new little desk for DS from my parents, (it's a nice little desk and he is excited to have space to create and write.)  And setting up the new mattress for DD,  I planned on making bread but umm.. it didn't happen.....

I really didn't start playing a long at Creative Scrappers and Two Peas in Bucket until 3pm this afternoon. With minor interruptions I was able to create 2 layouts & a card-- I know watch out! :)  Without further blabbin' from me here ya go:
I have to tell you this was truly a CHALLENGE for me.  Sweet and simple no pattern paper was the challenge.  Ugh!--what to do?  Tattered Angel mist and fancy pants rubons.  All but the mist are from the May kit at Scrapbook Circle.  I am pleased with the simpleness--made me
S-T-R-E-T-C-H!  Don't think I will be doing it again anytime soon.... :)
supplies used:
cardstock: Bazzill
rubons: Fancy Pants
mist: Tattered angels
lettering: Jillibean soup

supplies used:
pattern paper: Scenic Route
letters: American Crafts
circle: Accent Essentials cartridge
jewels: hobby lobby
stars: Fancy Pants
sewing....

Now this one, I LOVED...took a while to find the perfect paper with colors, but when I did, it flew together.  And what's more fun is that I've had these letters for over a year and I was able to create words with the leftover letters!  I even used my cricut to cut the circles--woohoo--love that thing!  And yes, there is stitching and bling!

Phew!  Thanks for hanging in there with me!--I'm a little tired myself!  DH is waiting to watch a movie with me.  (yes, man)

Oh, for those of you that were curious or not,  I DID like X-men origins Wolverine, wowzers--there was a lot of action and it answered a lot about him and what is in the movies (well, if you were paying attention to details....)  Best jet for now, thanks for stopping by!  Hope you spent it having fun!

Traditions?

1 comment:
Do you have them?  I'm not talking about the holiday kind I'm talking about making bread on Saturdays, laundry on Fridays, shopping on Monday type traditions.  Those are my half to traditions not always fun but needed.
The kids have each picked a day that they want something different for breakfast.
Tuesdays are chocolate chip pancakes (don't think I'm fancy-it's the krusteaz mix where you add water-I buy it at Sam's club.) you make the pancakes like they say then you throw chocolate chips in.

Thursdays are Pumpkin pancakes--okay so these are a little fancier but I have the recipe-(click on pumpkin pancakes) and today being
Friday is smoothie day!  Woohoo--EVERYONE gets excited.  Gets the kiddos out of bed and up and they enjoy telling me what they want their smoothie to be like.
Okay, another tradition is we are celebrating this year is teacher appreciation week-this is next week for us.  On Wednesday the kids and I worked on these babies:
The flowers on skewers have been sitting my closet from another project for a couple of years, (isn't it fun using up the stash?!)  to make those you cut two of the same flower and glue them together leaving room for your skewer at the bottom.  The little flower pots were also left over from the same project (I bought them in the flower department at Walmart) For the base (to poke into) I used flower foam-you want to make sure it's tight so that your flower doesn't wobble.
The kids made the 'faces' of the flowers from a stash of different typed flowers by Creative impressions-(I got them from CHA last year and hadn't used them up) they had the best time making up color combos.  I told them whatever they didn't use on this project they could have.  Well, they really went to town!  Youngest DS lost interest after about 5 minutes so I had to help him out.  We punched a couple of flowers then glued sequins to the front of the brad.
For the grass:
I had scrap pieces of green paper and we just cut strips any which way and stuck them down into the foam.
I think the kids did a great job, AND we had a fun time--BONUS!!
well, I've got to get back to my half to day, laundry, shopping list, going to the gym....
I DO get to go on a date night tonight--we are hoping to get into see the new X-men movie!
Thanks for stopping by!  And happy National Scrapbooking Day tomorrow!
