I was looking through my pictures and I found some cards I made for birthdays that I haven't shared yet:


I made these fun cards with leftovers from several kits--it was sort of liberating to just PLAY with fun embellishments and paper.

pinterest food finds. crepes.

so a few months ago I was at my SIL's house--she made us crepes, YUM!  I knew I had to find a recipe, PAN and make my own!  I now use this:

credits: Girl Inspired

BREAKFAST CREPES – THE RECIPE

1 1/2C. flour
1 Tbs. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 C. milk
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 Tbs. melted butter
for a fun delicious filling I use Honey Sweetened Greek Yogurt (I purchase it at either Costco or Walmart) I dollop a spoonful of yogurt in a bowl and then add lemon juice to my taste.  I add a spoonful to the cooked crepe then top with fruit--SO DELICIOUS!!

what I like about this page:

*yes, I have scrapped these pictures before--I LOVE them therefore I scrap them.

*LOVE how the hearts do the talking.  There is a mix of heart shapes, product types and flat vs. pop dots.

*the gold painted background just visible underneath the hearts.

*the letters, I painted black on them with mist...

* the stripped paper--SO usable...

bullit kitty.

I am NOT a cat person.  I say that and then I think of my Nanny (grandma) who LOVES cats, she had one COOL cat named Bullit--he put up with us a TON--I found this gem of a picture and had to scrap it.  The background was based off of this (my Nanny was a quilter):
Isn't my hair FANASTIC?  I went through a faze that I wanted my hair cut short like Dorothy Hamill...LOVING the look of glee of my little brother's face as he SQUEEZES the cat around the neck--he in turn looks like it's about to pass out...GOOD times, VERY patient kitty....

pinterest food find. taco seasoning.

so I ran out of Taco Seasoning!  What to do--turn to Pinterest of course!!  I knew I probably had all of the ingredients and was so happy to find this recipe:

credits:Gimme some oven

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • (optional: 1 tsp. flour)

DIRECTIONS:


Stir or whisk all ingredients together until combined.  Store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.

***I have made this WITH flour and without flour, it doesn't affect the taste, it's more if you want it to be thicker.  I LOVE this recipe because there is NO extra STUFF--you KNOW what you are eating!***

So we are coming up on Valentine's Day and I wanted to share another creation I made with thickers that are included in the Scrapbook Circle Today is Beautiful kit:
Super simple!  

1. I cut the hearts, scallops and banner with my silhouette (after measuring the letters to make sure that they would just fit)  
2. I did a simple zig zag stitch across the top.
3. I used pop dots to pop the hearts up off the background.  
4. little tip: because I didn't want the ribbon to tear through the paper I punched out two small circles. I adhered one to the back and one to the front for reinforcement--then I punched with my whole punch.
5. The gold ribbon used to tie it all together was purchased at Michael's (last year for a school project).

well, hello there!
I made this fun little card (featured on the Scrapbook Circle blog today!) using the Today is Beautiful kit by Scrapbook Circle.  The mix of water colors is just gorgeous and FUN to work with!  The hello is gold vellum!
This is going to be a SUPER quick post I've got to run and get dinner in the crockpot--got a state championship soccer game to attend AND a band concert tonight--NEVER a dull moment!

pinterest food finds, mile high biscuits.

I've been looking for a delicious biscuit recipe--I LOVE them!  This one was pretty good:
Mile High Perfect Biscuits
Yield: approximately 10 4-inch biscuits
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 3/4 c. buttermilk (I use Powdered)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 stick cold cubed
Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 425ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a non-stick baking mat.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.
  3. With a pastry blender mix in shortening.
  4. Create a well in the middle of the bowl. Add the buttermilk, egg, and 2 tbsp of the cold water into the well. **I mix mine by hand but you can use a wooden spoon**
  5. Add the cubes of butter, and use your hands to knead the butter into the dough (no more than 7-8 times). Some of the butter will incorporate to help moisten the dough, but mostly you want the butter to REMAIN in small chunks throughout the dough. This will make the biscuits fluffy.
  6. Turn dough out onto a LIGHTLY floured surface.  Press into a 1 1/2 inch layer, making it as level as you can.
  7. Use a round cutter to cut biscuits out. Place each one on the prepared cookie sheet, edges touching each other.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until outer edges start turning golden brown.
  9. Serve warm! Or store at room temperature in a sealed container for up to 2 days. 

I TWEEKED this just a little to make it mine--where she suggests mixing in the butter--I just used my pastry blender to incorporate it more.
