Fancy Pants bookmark

2 comments:
Okay, so this idea has been percolating in my mind for a while.  The idea was a combination of an idea of what DD came up with, and searching creative blogs at 1:30am! so here it is:
I don't know if you can tell from the pictures but the cream colored ribbon is gathered and the green ribbon is sewed to it.  The flower is paper and hand cut (my tutorial given here).  And the button is sewed on then sewn to the ribbon on the back.

supplies used:
pattern paper: Fancy Pants
button: Fancy Pants
ribbon: Michael's
ink: cat eye chalk
silk flower: bazzill
twine: dollar bin Target
stiffen stuff (this gives it just a little stiffness)

today...yep another page with the FABULOUS MAY kit!

No comments:
do you know how sometimes you seem so intent on getting something done and you get distracted?  Happens all the time to me, this morning in fact.  (should've taken a shower sooner BUT I wanted to play with my May kit instead!)  But I did finish a page rather quickly, I have to tell you this is one of my most favorite pictures of my young DS and my mom.  Taken 4 years ago, I FINALLY scrapped it!
Supplies used:
pattern paper: American Crafts, Fancy Pants, Pebbles
rubons & journaling card: fancy pants
letters: Jillibean soup
button: Jenni Bowlin

Scrapbook Circle May kit!

1 comment:
Yeehaw!  I picked this up on Monday and had some time to play with it yesterday, SO fun!  Here is my page:
The rubons are FANTASTIC (fancy pants-they are under the title, and along the edge) slick as butter!  The clear buttons and hemp are from my stash but the rest came from the kit.  The picture on the left of young DS ALWAYS makes me laugh!  he is such a CLOWN, I'm always getting something interesting from him in the way of a pose.

supplies used:
pattern paper: fancy pants, pebbles
rubons: fancy pants
letter stickers: Jillibean soup
punch: fiskars
corner rounder, hemp, buttons

Today is a half day for school, the kids and I are planning on being crafty.  I have some left over flowers from a project I made 2 years ago and we are going to embellish them a bit for teacher appreciation week.  (which is next week) Monday is bring a flower or card--I thought using the stash would be great! (I'll take pictures, they were already figuring out who gets what flower....)

Sketch #49 reveal at Creative Scrappers!

2 comments:
This one was a fun one to work with.  Wanna know my technique?  well, I'm gonna tell ya anyway! :)  What I do is I print off the sketch and tape it on the wall in front of my desk, so I can see it as I sit down.  Sometimes inspiration hits right away other times--it's a few days.  I bought this paper over at Stop and Scrap--it's the Night Light collection from October Afternoon--LOVE it!  The star is a take of my flower, followed the same instructions I just made a star instead of a flower.

supplies used:
pattern paper: October Afternoon
letter stickers: October Afternoon, Making Memories
eyelets: making memories
cardstock edged: Bazzill
journaling card: October Afternoon
chipboard: Fancy Pants
glitter glue: Stickles
distressing ink, machine sewing, hemp, buttons

Thanks so much for stopping by!

So I'm up at 1am!

No comments:
It's the middle of the night and ALL is quiet....why am I up?  A little boy came tapping me on the back telling me his ear hurt.  I go with him to his room and told him to lay down on the side that didn't hurt...he lay there for about 15 minutes and started to cry....poor guy!  I got up with him and gave him some ibuprofen--he went back to bed cried for another 5 minutes and must have fallen asleep.  When he feels bad he just wants to be left alone...sure hope it's only water from swimming...A couple of things I've realized being up this late/early:

--it's been a LONG time since I've been up at 1am!
--there sure are A LOT of creative people out in cyberspace.
--sure is QUIET when everyone is asleep.
--I REALLY do love being a mom even when I get woken up early in the morning.
--sure hope I can go back to sleep...

In honor of my little sick guy....the other day my older two kiddos were at piano and I was trying to think of something creative for dinner (don't ya just hate that?!--drawing a blank for dinner?) So I ask young DS--"what do you want for dinner?"  "PIZZA!"--(ya have to know that this boy could eat pizza for breakfast lunch and dinner & we had just had pizza a couple of days before.....) I said, "let's try again, what do you want for dinner?" "PIZZA!" At this point I realize it will be pointless to ask again, so I tell him, "here's a cupcake, go use your smart brain and think on something different for dinner." (ok, not the most healthy snack, but I figured it would give me enough alone time to use the potty--and 'maybe' have some peace and quiet.....ha!)  No sooner do I get done when a frosting covered face boy comes to me and says, "I know mom!  let's have chicken ladas! (chicken enchiladas)"  Gotta love 6 year olds!--I think we ended up with a compromise of chicken quesadillas (I know!   I asked he told me but I ran out of time!) I think it's time to try and get some shut eye, feeling a little drowsy.... Thanks for stopping by and reading the ramblings of a tired mommy.

this week...

3 comments:
has been filled with braces, lost teeth, forgetful fairies, heat, kindergarten musical, advancement in Scouts, no sleep, swimming, laundry, and some scrapp'in!  here is another layout I did the other day:
This paper is Dream street!  Lara Ellingson is the designer and she ROCKS!  She happens to be a cousin of a friend of mine (small world-huh?)  These papers are double sided and both sides are equally cute!
I did my own sketch for this one and hand cut the scalloped border and star, once I had my coordinating cardstock this layout came together quickly!  I hope that I get some creative time today-but I have a mountain of laundry to do, and a couple of movies rented and checked out that we need to watch.  Oh, and how can I forget tonight is "hatching Pete" on the Disney channel!  Tomorrow--NO SOCCER--woohoo!  A free Saturday, we haven't had one of those in a while.  Well, I have delayed the inevitable long enough--better go!  Thanks for stopping by today!

My take on sketch #48 at Creative Scrappers

1 comment:
I was blessed enough yesterday to have some time to create (probably the only time this week).  I took sketch #48 and made this (this sketch was not my assigned sketch but looked like SO much fun!):

In honor of green day, I used up my stash!  This Fancy Pants paper I have had for maybe a year, and the swirls & brads too!  My letters are new from Peachy Cheap, I was happy there because usually things will sit in the bag and not get used!  I was just happy to finally get this picture scrapped! :)  Thanks for stopping by!

supplies used:
pattern paper: October Afternoon, Fancy Pants
brads, swirl, letters: American Crafts
jewels: unknown
strip of stars: Bazzill

DD album

3 comments:
My daughter made this beautiful album for her student teacher who is getting married. (I asked her permission to see if I could post this today.)  She did the majority of it herself including the flower.  All I did was cut things down, here is a sample of what she did:

She did a beautiful job and I am SUPER proud of her!  Thanks for stopping by!

Creative Scrappers sketch #47

I was really happy with the results, it was a FUN sketch!  AND I got to use the FABULOUS April kit over at Scrapbook Circle! (the only thing I added was the Making Memories letters....)

Easter

No comments:
Friday we went to the Easter Pageant held on the Temple grounds in Mesa.  It was wonderfully done, it depicted the life and resurrection of the Savior.  My favorite part is in the end when they have all the 500 member cast come out and sing "He lives!"  And the depicted Savior rises up above the stage, it always brings a tear to my eye and testifies to me that I KNOW that my Savior lives.

Yesterday was a BEAUTIFUL day,  filled with family & fun.  It dawned with nice clean air that just after rain brings....PERFECT.   It was nice taking a break from the same things to enjoy one another.  One more thing I want to share is this video.
Hope everyone else had a beautifully Easter Sunday as well.

I can FINALLY share!

I made this album for my parents who are taking their very FIRST trip together to Hawaii, I'm to excited!  I made it out of 5 sheets of Fancy pants Summer Soiree paper, I literally used it ALL up!  The albums covers I hand cut to fit the envelopes, which are SO fantastic!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Daughter's journal...

4 comments:
I have been wanting to make a journal for awhile, and after talking to my daughter about a not nice person at school (don't ya just when kids say mean things to each other?!) decided I should make one for her including pictures of her and letting her know how special I think she is.  Without her knowing, I had her pick out her favorite papers from the April kit at Scrapbook Circle, they happened to be mostly Cosmo Cricket.  Without further adu:
Love, Love the Girl Friday line by Cosmo Cricket!
supplies used:
pattern paper: Cosmo Cricket, Fancy Pants
stickers: Cosmo Cricket
jewels & pom trim: Bazzill
pearls: Jenni Bowlin
stamps: unity
rubons: Kaiser
letter stickers: American Craft
printed paper I did myself on the computer
it measures 8x8

She was so cute, I had it on my desk and she happened to be getting one of my pens (of course she has to look and see if there is ANYTHING on my desk that is good!) she said," That journal is cute."  I said," it's for you."  She got the biggest grin on her face.  I think she might like it! :)

today....

1 comment:
man, I'm tired...went to the gym to my spinning class and it wasn't necessarily hard just your heart rate at the same rate for minutes on end..then I came home to clean my tile floors and took a shower.  After that I had a few ladies come over to learn to can chicken.  Sure was fun to teach others something I feel comfortable teaching about.
This weekend was wonderful!  Date night with hubby Friday, soccer games Saturday morning, General Conference Saturday, and Sunday.  (General Conference is every six months, it is where the Prophet, Apostles and other leaders of our church speak.)  There were several talks that really touched me, I will definitely have to share links when they have the transcripts up and running....
Anyway, wanted to share a layout I made last week with the Scrapbook Circle April kit:
The sketch is from Creative Scrappers, I had fun using the rubon stitching (that was an adjustment from actually getting the machine out, but I really like the affect) I used acrylic paint on my background (another change)  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this kit!  I have another project I will have to share tomorrow (I'm outta time!)  Thanks for stopping by today!

TOTALLY love this paper by Fancy Pants!  It will be coming up in a Scrapbook Circle kit soon!  (I just happened to get some at CHA, woohoo!)  Hope everyone is having a FABULOUS day!  I'm off to help out in the classroom, and Scouts later on today!  Laters!

April WHATEVER challenge at Scrapbook Circle

1 comment:
I was in charge of a challenge at Scrapbook Circle this month.  It's the WHATEVER challenge, go into your stash pretty much with your eyes closed and pick 7 to 8 items for embellishments, then close your eyes and pick your paper.  Next is your pictures--you can do this with your eyes open! :)  This is what my items look like before and after:
If you want to play along here is the link to the community.  Thanks for stopping by today!
