pinterest food find. Perfect turkey gravy

1 comment:
I needed some gravy for Hawaiian Haystacks, I pretty much always have chicken stock/broth on hand so instead of using turkey stock I used chicken--it was DELICIOUS!

INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup butter, cut into about 8 pieces
1 teaspoon coarse black pepper
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
4 cups pan drippings OR 4 cups chicken stock

DIRECTIONS *If using drippings from a chicken or turkey: Pour drippings into a fine mesh strainer then allow the drippings to cool a bit so that the fat rises to the top and starts to solidify. Use a spoon to remove the fat. If you don’t have enough drippings to equal 4 cups, add enough chicken or turkey stock until you have 4 cups of drippings. *If you’re not using turkey or chicken drippings, use 4 cups chicken or turkey stock. In a large saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter over medium-low heat. Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon coarse black pepper Slowly add in 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, constantly whisking to combine. After a few minutes, the flour will be well incorporated into the butter. Slowly begin to pour in drippings and/or chicken broth into the pan, constantly whisking. Allow the gravy to cook for several minutes, so that it can thicken up. Serve immediately, or keep on very low heat until you’re ready to serve.

this layout came together quickly with a little tinkering...I had to figure out what size I needed to cut my pictures and papers down to 2 3/4" square--then I assembled making sure not to put the "like" papers near each other.  I'm pretty pleased with the finished product AND I used a different colored cardstock--I usually use white or cream.  (I've been trying to use up the mounds of other colored card stock in my stash!)
Thanks SO much for the visit!

  1. Add all ingredients except cabbage to blender. Or, if you prefer, you can whisk the ingredients together in a large bowl before tossing with cabbage.
  2. Process until blended.
  3. Toss with cabbage.
  4. If you have time, you can refrigerate before serving to let the flavors meld, but this is not necessary.

bicycling.

2 comments:
we get to actually bicycle here in the spring--this is from a few years ago when everyone was in elementary--they had a ride your bike to school day.
We really had FUN, my youngest SO wanted a geared bike--he pedaled like a mad man to keep up with the rest of us, but he was HAPPY!  (BTW--he has his OWN geared bike now!)
I had fun using the Let's Do this Main kit from Scrapbook Circle, and add ons Love it, and This Way.  Thanks for the visit today!

Can I tell you this layout is seriously one of my FAVORITES?!  Well it is!
The picture isn't the best--I made it black and white because the off colors were distracting...We watched a high school soccer game even though my daughter wasn't playing.  I could relax a LITTLE and joke around for about the first quarter and then I couldn't stand it!  I had to go down on the track to take pictures!  (I am the booster photographer and have special privileges like that...)
Anyway, this layout originally started as a 12 x 12 layout--I wasn't feeling the tiny picture on a large page so i cut it down to 8 1/2" x 11.  I did paint the background a bit using a Heidi Swapp mist (Teal)--they are my favorite!
My focus was to use the Heidi Swapp clear pocket cards found in the Let's Do this Kit from Scrapbook Circle.  That's all for today but I really appreciate the visit--TAKE care!

adorable fun.

so NO I have not fallen off the planet, I'm living the life with busy kiddos!  Have one that just got his Eagle (seriously HUGE!), have yet another who just finished up Lacrosse, and two that are in the middle of track season. One of which goes to soccer as well, and doing PT (had a sprained ankle--that got better but now it's the quad)  Then there is the dog who had to go to the vet, ortho appointments, and check ups!  Yes, I am sleeping, and eating! ;)  Just busy, busy--making sure that I am taking pictures and collecting items from our many adventures.
With that being said I did have a FEW minutes to share a page I made for Scrapbook Circle.  This picture cracks me up-the look of pure joy is just how this boy is, excited!
