sketchy thursdays 5.26--silly

10 comments:
I really liked the simplicity of this sketch from sketchy thursdays, left some room for interpretation...
I used the new Grandma's garden (Scrapbook Circle) for this layout.  See you can make a masculine layout with some flowers!  I took these pictures about a month ago when my kids had no soccer practice.  we went to the park to play and I brought the camera, these boys are goof balls!
I don't know if you can tell but I used some crackle paint on the center of these scalloped circle thingies...
on the clouds I used some matte accents on the clouds, looks pretty cool in person.
this is just a closeup of the title on pop dots.....I know you can't see it but I also but the matte in the center of the flowers on the green.  It's actually pretty cool, feels like the paper is embossed.
I've been trying to use of the stash that I have, hence the use of the matte accent, crackle accent glue.  I've had the matte accent for a while now, when I bought it I thought I would use a lot.  Ummm yeah, I brushed some dust off and was happy to see that it still came out of the bottle!

summer break is now in full swing, we are home from our weekend away.  we have plans let's hope that no one gets bored! :)  thanks for stopping in!

Hello...clean & simple stamping #141

3 comments:
I was inspired by a card made by fellow design team member Diana Fisher, she got her sketch from Clean & simple stamping, I loved the sketch so i thought I would play along:

the paper is from the Garden party kit from scrapbook circle--just love these papers!  The stamp is from hero arts, the ticket was cut with my cricut, and the rubon is American crafts.
I had such a fun time putting this fun little card together, it came together quickly as everything was out on my desk from playing! :)  thanks for the visit today!  hope you have a good one!

Graduation gifts....

3 comments:
I had a couple of graduation gifts to make this year:
For my niece:
I even made a matching card from the scraps:

I used the For the Record Line from Echo Park to make this set.  the rubons are actually 6 years old!  they are made by making memories....BTW she loved it!

For my second journal set I used the Garden Party kit, the june kit from scrapbook circle:
Here is a closeup of the leaves, I used crackle accents, the effect is REALLY cool, so much better in person.  I used my stickles to color in the center of the flowers and the roses.
and here is the card of course:
these journals are SO quick and fun to make!  I used my bind it all to bind it all together.  have to make this quick the kiddos are wanting to play!  thanks for popping in for a visit!   happy memorial day weekend hope you are enjoying it with your family!

Yeehaw it's the last day of school! Garden party is LIVE!

3 comments:
and that means teacher's gifts! :)  the year seem to fly by--THANK GOODNESS for that!!  I wanted to share with you what I made this year:

first off is this clipboard (which I picked up at Walmart for a little more than a dollar)--I decided I wanted another color other than the kraft that it was so I spray painted it with black paint (leftover from the pinewood derby).  I really like how it accents the subway art.  The subway art came from the Eighteen 25 blog, just LOVE their creations!  (they have SEVERAL different subway art, just look to the right in the labels section and select subway art.) I had this printed at staples on their laser printer, it just looks SO professional.  my 7th grader was really excited to give this to her language art teacher, they are ALWAYS reading in that class....

secondly, I felt like the teachers needed some cards too so I used the scraps from THIS project and made a set of 10 cards for each teacher.  one teacher received a set of 4 1/4" x 5" cards while the other teacher received a set of 3 1/2" x 5" cards.  so basically I got three cards from a 12" x 12" sheet of cardstock.
the rubons have been in my stash for who knows how long.  they are by American crafts and were bunched all together in a set of so I had to individually cut them.  the "plaque" was cut with my cricut off of the Mother's day cartridge 2010.

the newest kit for Scrapbook Circle Garden Party has gone live!  here is a sneak of what it looks like
FUN stuff I'm telling you!

well, I've got a bunch to do before the kids get home from school, we have a little movie party planned.  and I think I've decided to make home made pizza instead of going to buy it--that is of course unless someone has eaten the turkey pepperoni! :)
Thanks for stopping in!

Happy Birthday--butterfly

8 comments:
Something old something new and I bring you:

the old?  this colorful paper from We R Memory keepers.
the not so old? my embossing folders, I forget sometimes how fun these really are!  Also, my stamps butterfly and sentiment (both from Hero Arts)
the new? My die cutting dies from Papertry ink (Doilie dies collection & Limitless layers) aren't they fabulous?  I waited for a long time for these to come back in stock.

Sorry this is a quick post but I have to get back to creating, I've got a couple of graduation gifts to make. thanks for stopping in!

Joy* Celebrate* wish*

6 comments:
I had the chance to play some more with Grandma's Attic kit.  I needed some more birthday cards, seems like I always need those!  it was so fun to just relax and craft:
the rubons in this kit are by hambly and go on so well and stay.  I hate when you do a rub on and they flake--SO irritating.  They almost feel like a sticker once they're down....

I couldn't sleep for a little bit last night so I started cleaning out my pantry, throwing old stale stuff, almost empty containers away.  I have baskets in my closet on the shelves which I love because everything doesn't fall all over the place, but I've NEVER labeled them. (my hubby's biggest complaint so today I'm going to label them!)  Need to do the other shelves too but I think I am just going to label them now.  Then finish cleaning out later when the kids get home so they can help me! :)  That way I can craft today!  I've ALWAYS got a plan!  Thanks for popping in!  Hope your day is FABULOUS!!

Oh, one more thing!  Have you been checking the Scrapbook Circle blog?  They've been having some AMAZING giveaways.  If you haven't go check it out HERE!

Happy birthday with the Scrapbook Circle Anniversary kit

12 comments:
So I needed to make some more birthday cards, and this FANTASTIC kit was just sitting on my desk! :)  the 5th anniversary kit from Scrapbook Circle. Last I checked they still have some left!  I'm telling you these bright colors are just FABULOUS!!
I added some bling from my stash, and the silver pearls (I bought them at Michael's on an end cap and don't know the manufacturer--wish I did they are worth another couple of packs!)

Anyway, need to make this one a quick post as I need to figure out dinner for tonight--we have a band concert.  Tomorrow it's an awards ceremony for sports AND a play!  Can you tell it's the end of the year?

**little bragging mommy moment....my middle boy had straight A's this year and was honored with the other students who accomplished that at a special awards night last week--he even tested in to ALP (advanced learning placement), it will be GREAT for him--he needs a challenge! :)  My daughter had her last meet on Saturday (it was hot!  SO grateful for the umbrella and ice chest FULL of ice, water, and Gatorade)  Anyway, she did her best and did well.  placing 4th in the hurdles, and 2nd in the long jump.  She also did well with her grades and just missed being honored for national junior honor society.  (so glad that something has clicked with her and she is doing well with school, it was a REAL struggle when she was younger....)  My youngest is now in the middle of apple valley school, they get to dress up as a 19th century person (they take on their name) and do things like they would in that time period's school.  Today for extra credit he took a quilt his grandma made for him--he was VERY proud he could do that! :) **

Thanks for reading all of my post if you did! :)  Thanks for stopping in--make today a GREAT one!

Staining....

3 comments:
I received a BEAUTIFUL creation from my boys for Mother's Day, they made it that weekend at the Father and Son's campout (they hold that EVERY year where the boys go with their dads camping.)
I wanted to stain it after reading THIS post by my friend and AMAZING DIY girl Rebecca Tressler (you need to check our her blog!)
I've never stained anything before and this spray was just AWESOME!  (that's even the color I used!)
This is how it turned out:
for those of you wondering what it is, it's a W for Waite....it looks great, when I get my wall finished I will share with with you.  I'm excited to finally have something up there, we've only lived here for 6 years! :)
Hope you have fun day and craft a bit!

I actually sewed....

7 comments:
So on Saturday my mojo was not in scrapbooking.  My mind went a little hay wire, I decided I actually wanted to SEW!  (for those that know me, this is a MIRACLE.  My mother actually had to sit down when my daughter and I showed her my creations....)

The reason I don't sew.  Plain and simple my 7th grade Home Ec. teacher--she seriously gave me MAJOR anxiety (stupid pajama frog!).  In her honor I broke 3 needles--she used to stand over us and threaten us if we broke ONE MORE NEEDLE!  (I found out from my mom after the fact that I really needed a Jean's needle--who knew!)  I'm sure she was a nice old lady, to me at 12 (all those years ago..) she seemed like she was 100 years old....ANYWAY... Here is what I made:
This is my daughter's bag, this was the second to be made and went MUCH faster than the first.  She LOVES it and carries her scriptures to church in it.
yes, these little bling buttons and sequins are from Girls' Paperie.
I think the ribbon was from a spool that I bought at Walmart years ago.  The bling on the pockets are from my I*ROCK tool from Imaginisce.  My dad was pretty impressed with that.
my daughter had a fantastic idea of adding a pocket, which I did.  I eyeballed the measurement....what is cool about her bag is that it's small...NO, really she has those adjuster things in the waist to hold the pants up.  What I had her do was to tighten it.  Then I sewed the next hole down and cut off the excess...Her pants were capris, I'm glad that she wanted shorter handles made for easier sewing....
This is my bag, I LOVED these capris.  But it's SERIOUSLY not attractive to have holes on the backside.  So I trimmed away!  The trim on the pockets is dear lizzy--has some fabulous bling in the flowers.  The belt is one that I have had for a long time, but as I don't wear belts so on the purse it went!
I like my keys to be secure so I added this little clip, I used another of the ribbon from the dear lizzy line and sewed it in the pocket....
now, I've told you I DON'T sew.  I've NEVER done a zipper--EVER.  I wanted one, so my daughter and I went to Joann's I measured the length and grabbed an 18" zipper.  I asked the girl behind the cutting counter if that was right--she assured me it was.  I told her I didn't sew, she looked at my purse and said,  "I hate to tell you this but you did!"  I only had to pick the zipper out once as I didn't know which direction to put it in...I do have to tell you that I'm about as proud of this sewn in zipper as sewing the whole purse! :)
okay, my pocket was the very last thing to go into the purse, it was done after I sewed my daughter's bag.  It's actually the cuff off the bottom of the pant.  Looks really great and finished.
I watched THIS video which helped me immensely--I am a visual person....Would I do these again?  Probably.  It wasn't as hard as I thought and it was FUN!  My daughter really enjoyed the process, I made her cut her own, but I did the sewing because the fabric was so thick..
Today, I did some staining--NEVER done that before either!  I will have to show the finished dry product tomorrow!
Thanks for popping in!  happy crafting!

Be yourself.....

7 comments:
This is my last layout from the kits from May, this just happens to be from the Anniversary kit.  LOOOVE the bright colors!  My kids had the day off a few weeks ago and I took some shots with a friend's borrowed 50mm lens (my husband thinks I am not going to give it back!--I love it so!)  Anyway, these are some of the shots I took of my daughter--SOO excited that I could scrap them right away.  See the black and white of her talking--SO her and I LOVE it.  I love the fact that she likes to tell me stuff....
closeup of the black & white photo, i popped it up on pop dots--looks pretty cool in person....

I do get excited about things...I used my I-rock took for that little bling on the butterfly....

closeup of the journaling I did with the SUPER cool word stickers from Girls' paperie...

So Saturday was National scrapbook day....I made notes, I had my stuff out, but my mojo was just missing....I did however create some pretty cool non-scrapping things.  I took pictures today but will share them tomorrow.  I've got to go get dinner started.  Today has been a DIY day, I hung several pictures, not everything I wanted to do, but some things that I've had for years.  Don't know why I am so afraid to hang things on my wall...you would think I could do it no problem!
Yesterday was a nice relaxing day.  I got some fun creative things from my children and cards.  We even went to dinner at my mom's, just fun to be with family!
Well, dinner won't make itself!  Thanks for popping in for a visit!

A.R. ice cream, another Scrapbook Circle giveaway....and a SWEET recipe

7 comments:
Today is the last day for the Scrapbook Circle blog hop!  I'm telling you the prizes are AMAZING.  Today's giveaway is some Lily bee designs paper!!  Go check it out HERE on the Scrapbook Circle blog--good luck!
Speaking of the anniversary kit, I made this layout:
I wanted to call your attention to two things.  The black star and frame are actually included in the kit but are sprayed with mist from the shop at Scrapbook Circle.  In person in looks much better.... Also, the bling stars, and button are from my stash.  The button can also be found in the shop under Emma's buttons....
These stickers are from Girl's paperie and are SO fun!  At first I was looking at them and wondering what I was going to do, inspiration hit and I cut them out and popped them out--FABULOUS!
This week is teacher appreciation week, today on the list is sending in a sweet treat.  I made THESE last night.  YUMMY!  Warning though they are rich and you can easily get a sugar overload! :)  I cut these babies up and froze the rest for school lunches...
I'm on the run again!  Thanks for popping in today!!  Hope you have a FANTASTIC Tuesday!!

Building a Castle....and another SBC giveaway!!

4 comments:
I hope that you are enjoying the blog hop for Scrapbook Circle!  Wonder what I'm talking about?  Scroll down....
This layout was made with the grandma's attic kit, love the feminine colors!  I have to tell you about the pictures, they were taken last year.  My daughter had to make a castle, she did it ALL by herself.  She ended up getting an A, and the teacher kept her project as an example for her future students.  Proud grandma took these pictures... :)
Do you notice the little bit of scalloped brown underneath the ribbon?  That is actually from the ribbon packaging.
I opted to make my own lolly out of some of the crate paper included in the kit.  All of the American craft lollies had words on them.  I wanted just one word so I also pulled the top off of the green punched out a piece of pattern paper and then topped it with a sticker.
The fun thing about the castle, it just happened to be on the back side with a "princess"  I knew I had to include it with these pictures--SO fun!
One last thing before I go.  Scrapbook Circle is doing a giveaway TODAY, go check it out HERE--believe me you DON'T want to miss out!  Good luck!!  Thanks for popping in for a visit!
