Echo Park Happy Halloween--I'm loving it!

4 comments:
I made these treat containers last year for my kid's teachers, it was so much fun and EASY that I decided to do it again this year.  The container is an empty crystal light container.  For the top I made my own template by placing the lid down and tracing around it.  Then trimming it slightly.  The circumference was easy to, I just took a scratch piece of paper and held it around the sides--measured it and cut my pattern paper.  Once I had that measurement I began to layer up.
**one thing you want to remember is to use a STRONG adhesive.  For my paper I used my 3M tacky adhesive.  But when it came to the tulle I used my hot glue gun.  (I didn't use it before because I didn't want bumps underneath my paper.)  Now I need to make one more, buy Halloween candy and fill them up!
Today is a BUSY one!  Go to the classroom, going ice skating after school, earlier soccer practice, mutual for my daughter!  Dinner?  At this point I have NO idea! :)  Thanks for stopping in!  Hope you have a GREAT day today!

October 31--Jana Eubank sketch

3 comments:
So I saw this layout over on Jana Eubank's site the other day and KNEW I had to play with it!  It's for sketch inspiration.

Yes, I still have pictures of Halloween I haven't scrapped, in fact I haven't done any!  But I know that Scrapbook Circle has an AWESOME Halloween kit that she has in limited quantity.  If you love Halloween go check it out--it's only $20!  Mine should be here this week and I have DEFINITE plans! :)

Today was soccer day and it was HOT!  I was so glad we only had one game today, last night we had the other and didn't get home until 9:45pm--at least it wasn't hot!
Today was Women's Conference for church--LOVED it--such an uplift.  Always wonderful to listen to the Prophet speak.
Gotta run--hubby and daughter are back from their overnight camp out and looking to watch a movie.  Thanks for stopping in!

Happy Birthday card and a flower tutorial.....

6 comments:
So this little card was again made by the famous scraps!  The create blog had a tutorial on scallops and challenged us to make a card, this is my take:
Card I made from the Create scallop Challenge on THIS blog.
I was playing with my scalloped paper and trimmed off the edge for the bottom of this card.  I didn't want to just throw the other "inside" part away so I punched it and created the matching flower on the card above.  Following is a tutorial.

What you will need:
a scallop punch, or a die cut
paper
mist (I used strawberry shortcake)

1. punch 3 scallops, then cut down to the center leaving part.  Like this:

2. scrunch up your punched/cut scallops like this:
3. CAREFULLY undo your scrunched scallop.
4. Glue one on top of the other.
5. Once all is glued together scrunch your scallops to resemble a flower.  It should end up looking like this:
This looks pretty good right?  For my flower on the card above I added chalkboard mist to give it some bling:

I scrunched it some more and just let it dry.  If you had a large die cutting machine like a Cricut, you could cut larger scallops and make larger GORGEOUS flowers.  As it is my punch was a 2" scallop, my finished flower measures about 1 3/4".

Thanks for stopping in and visiting today!  oooh!  I wanted to share with you that Snapfish is having a 40% off sale on some of their product.  I spent yesterday and this morning working on photo books for my grandmas.  Go check it out at www.snapfish.com!  Have a great one!

Lake Bribe

6 comments:
So I found a FUN stash of paper that I wanted to use--it was all cut in different shapes--I KNEW I needed it for something fun. I used this SWEET sketch by Sketchy Thursdays (this weeks sketch)
As you can tell I used glossy accents I like the bubbles it adds a touch of water. *if you don't want the bubbles, flick it with your finger underneath your projects, it makes the glue settle and bubbles pop*

the post title got you confused? This silly kid was a little nervous to get out on the water, so I bribed him with $5 if he got out there. It took him a little while but he did it and discovered that he LOVED it! I offered him some more $$ if he got up on his knees but it was just too hard! So glad I had my camera with me that day, I got some HILARIOUS shots of everyone. Luckily my hilarious shot is on video and I'm not sharing that! :)
Went out to lunch with some friends today one of my friends has her birthday is today--SO fun! it's also my daddy's birthday--happy birthday dad!
weather is playing tricks with our senses here, EVERYONE is ready for it to cool down, it's supposed to rain tomorrow. let's hope it doesn't burn off!
Well, I'm off to fix dinner. Pick up kids from piano and HOPEFULLY watch the premiere of Hawaii 5-o, it was on last night. I'm just hoping I'm old enough to watch it! :)
Thanks for stopping in for a visit!

Cotton Candy

2 comments:
I believe this is the last layout for this particular set of photos! This layout was inspired by THIS layout....
I love how this layout fills like a quilt all stitched together making ever piece just fit. I also love the fact that I found yet another way to creatively use up my scraps! I didn't really had a set pattern it was sort of like a puzzle I started with my corners and fit the other pieces in sometimes cutting them to make them work. So, if you don't like puzzles I wouldn't recommend doing this in one setting! :) I happen to LOVE to do puzzles so this was FUN!
I sure hope you are enjoying your Sunday--thanks for stopping in for a visit!

This is a card that I made with the September kit at Scrapbook Circle:
You know that I HAD to add bling! Those flowers were just SCREAMING for it! :) I was making this card last week making sure that I used one of the digi uploads included in the kit. Well, I had my printer setting for quality set wrong, so I printed it again and had the other just sitting there. My son who is 7 was SO excited to have the other print out. He got busy creating after he saw my card, he made me this:
SOOO cute! Notice the glitter? Oh, I forgot to mention--he noticed all my cut out flowers and asked me sweetly if he could have some--he was making me something..... He was even more excited when I made him the orange part of the card--it's his favorite color. It was SO fun having him create with me.
I'm off to get ready for a swim birthday party! Thanks for stopping in!

Spread your wings and fly--birthday present

1 comment:
Today my DD is going to a birthday party for a friend who is turning 12. I decided to make her a butterfly like I did my own daughter. The base is Maya Road, Tulle I bought at Joanns, and the mist is tattered angels, little glitter glue by ranger, the rest is Fancy Pants (again from my stash!)
My daughter is really excited to give this to her friend. She also made a hair flower out of raffia:
I was IMPRESSED--she used one of those looms from Provo Craft....
My daughter and I actually planted some seeds in the garden and started some more inside (these won't go into the garden until October--VERY excited to see some pumpkins peeking up!)
I'm off to my spinning class this morning--thanks for dropping in! :)

Thursday--Today!

3 comments:
Is quiet. Yipee, I've been organizing papers (catching up on White Collar) this morning--now I'm tired. What's up with that?! :) Must be a sign of old age....So lately I've been playing with my stash I made these two cards the other day:
Do you notice the sparkle on the butterfly AND the heart? Yummy isn't it? It's chalkboard mist (strawberry shortcake & Apricot)

**One fun little thing that I haven't done before is to sew on chipboard. I don't know the easiest way as this was my first time. But I sewed the acrylic flower on the front while the chipboard was still a little wet from the mist. It went through nicely.**

All the supplies used are Fancy Pants. I couldn't believe I hadn't used those rubons or punch outs. Funny how supplies come to life when they are "new" again. The embossed paper is SO old I'm talking like 8 years. I thought it was SO pretty I didn't want to use it. You can't tell from the pictures very well, but I did lightly mist on the background as well. Such a simple pretty touch.

Well, my break is over! I have to continue on my organization so I can PLAY this afternoon with my paper! Thanks for stopping by!

Water girl

3 comments:
Yipee! Another layout made with stuff from my stash! I cut 4 pieces of pattern paper at 5" x7" (this happens to be some papers from the Rusted Sun from Fancy Pants) I prepared my cardstock by misting. Then I attached the papers randomly, it "felt" like I needed something more so I added the Pink Paislee darker piece to the middle. I also wanted the journaling to stand out so I sewed around it three times. FUN and EASY!
I made one of those distressed flowers. (there is a tutorial on the side bar----->)
Funny thing, I have had these jewels from Prima for a while--bought them on clearance--but lost them for while..ever happen to you?! Well, after my clean out I knew they needed to find a home.
This flower is actually made up of a bunch of surf boards! One of the girls from the DT at Scrapbook Circle (sorry can't remember who it was!) inspired me to make it.
another closeup of a half flower.....
Funny story about this layout. It was a layout BEFORE it had pictures on it. I don't usually scrap that way, I let the pictures sort of direct how the layout takes me. But this time I had a vision and pulled the pictures to fit the bill!
It's been a LOOONG day! My Pilates class is talking to several parts of my body and I need a good long soak in the tub! :)
Thanks for stopping by!

OH, echo park--I LOVE you! :)

8 comments:
Echo Park is somewhat new and I LOVE it--I mean EVERY line they have come out with has been a hit! (And I own like everyone except one!--And I think I'm going to call to see if my LSS has it!)
Anyway, I created this layout using 3 of their line together (Happy Halloween, Sweet Summertime, and Life is good) AND using a sketch from Page Maps:
In keeping with using my own stash, I also found this bit of black tulle, and my coffee filter flower was something I made for another project and never used--PERFECT for this layout!
And yes, I HAD to use some stickles--they are on the butterfly too!
LOVE this color combo AND my daughter liked this layout too--Double bonus!! :)

It's starting to cool down here--SO glad for that! It was like 68 degrees at 6 am! I decided my workout today would be getting the dirt mixture for my garden ready. I know that sounds strange for you if you live where you get snow--we don't so we get two planting seasons. Also, my daughter is going to be working on a project for church she needs it to be 10 hours long. She is well on her way! AND we WILL have something to show for it this time! I replanted my only surviving plant from my last attempt--my Basil plant. I hope I didn't kill it this morning when I transplanted it. I'm exhausted and still need to run a few errands, shin guards and shoes for soccer and a trip to the school for the book fair--I LOVE the book fair! I went yesterday with my youngest DS and now my middle guy wants me to go. :)
I hope that you have a GREAT one today! Thanks for stopping in!

Another layout from Scrapbook Circle September kit!
This paper from Sassafrass is AWESOME!! I cut off the decorative border end and flipped the page so that I could use it for journaling. Some other fun things that I wanted to point out are the digital pieces to this kit. What--you didn't know there are some FABULOUS digital print at home embellishments included in the kit? There are! Let me direct your attention to the orange banner, the pink/red strip at the top of the picture, the scalloped circle underneath the flowers, and the petals of the GORGEOUS yellow flower. BTW that flower is made by one my fellow DT members Tessa! She even has an etsy shop if you want to go check more of her creations....
Here is a closeup of the flower. I have to laugh because these "leaves" are actually the tail ends of the birds included in the download! :) PERFECT!
Thanks for stopping in make it a WONDERFUL day!

Knee boarding.....

4 comments:
Happy Labor day! I have another September layout for Scrapbook Circle:
This one was inspired by a layout by the super talented Walesk Neris I met her back in Winter CHA this year.

I have to tell you these pictures just pull at my heart strings. My son tried so hard to get up on the knee board, he got partially up and held on for dear life! I was proud of him, it's hard! And he held on for a long time!

I'm REALLY liking smaller pictures lately. I print them at home but I know I can order them from snapfish but you get two. I'll have to see if I can be patient enough to order pictures. When I'm in the mood to scrap, I don't always want to scrap the pictures I have printed! I want the newer ones! I know that's weird, maybe it's because the memories are more fresh OR I'm tired of looking at the old ones and have no inspiration hit!

Hope you enjoy your day off! Thanks for dropping in!

Rock beach--two ways

3 comments:
So I've mentioned this before when my kids are all involved in something together I like to do a layout for each of them. they aren't always the same: (my daughters I posted a couple of days ago HERE)
I also followed the stash challenge by Alphra Boyer basically use what ya got! So I did!! These letters used to be blue, I tried to spray them with mist but there was something that repelled it. So I took the top layer off resprayed then ran it threw my embossing folder. LOVE the affect! I used a little kaiser kraft, basic grey, chatterbox, girls' paperie, october afternoon, and sizzix.
Using Aphra's challenge I issued another challenge to myself that of the color room, color pallette #6:
LOVED working with these colors! What's even more fun is the combination of companies, October Afternoon, SEI, Pink Paislee, Elle's studio, crate paper, basic grey, Glitz, and making memories! Yipee for using up my stash!
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you are enjoying your long weekend!

Imaginisce is having a sketch challenge over on their blog, I decided to play.
You know how sometimes you see something and it starts taking shape in your mind? That's how it was with this sketch. After cleaning out my supplies I was happy to find I still had this SUPER fun paper from Imaginisce to work with!
I even used my cricut to cut out all these rectangles--yes, I could've done it with my trimmer but I couldn't have done the hearts!

I hand cut this butterfly and decided he needed to shine a little. I LOVE bling!! And you know I ALWAYS have to have some sewing on my creations. I really like how it makes it feel like a quilt (my mother and grandmothers would be SO proud!)
Well, it's Saturday and I need to ENCOURAGE some cleaning--that's my "favorite" thing to do! :)
Thanks for stopping in!

Good Eats--September Scrapbook Circle

4 comments:
This layout was inspired by Nicole Harder:
Yes, I have scrapped this pictures before--(I ALWAYS do 3 layouts when all my kids are included) This kit is just SO fun to work with! And the downloads! JUST wait! They are FANTASTIC!!
I haven't used black as a background for a while--love how it makes the photos stand out.

I think cleaning out old supplies has been in the air. (I've read that on several scrappy blogs...) I feel liberated and discovered some treasures that I forgot I had! I'm looking forward to using them in some upcoming layouts!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a FABULOUS Friday! :)

Can you believe it's September 1st already?! Time sure is flying by! I wanted to share the first of my creations with the September Scrapbook Circle kit:

Okay, I bet you didn't know that Lisa has started to sell chalkboard mist! It's $20 for 3 AND those will ship FREE with your kit purchase! It is AMAZING stuff--it has more coverage than just normal mist. It really is FUN to play with.
