something fun AND the joy of kids kamp...

No comments:
I got an e-mail today from Basic Grey! My Nan & Pop layout is going to be featured in their gallery! For those of you that don't know. Your layouts/creations are sent in for a tryout of sorts. Then they send you an e-mail to let you know that your layout is excepted. I've entered before and haven't been excepted so this is PRETTY EXCITING!!

With kids kamp today, I had QUIET! No fighting.... no, "I'm bored!" 3 hours of uninterrupted creative time....yep I finished my final sketch for Creative Scrappers and yes it's only a peek. I know I'm mean. :)
so let's make it two peeks:
what's fun is that I used my new foam distressing tool. TOTALLY fun, it's the Tim Holtz one. The letters are ones that I purchased from Peachy Cheap last month. Also, the hearts and flower are from my Maya Road haul from memorial day. AND finally I just bought this paper today! It's a miracle, I used something the day that I bought it. Look at me, going green... :)

supplies used:
pattern paper: Scenic Route
embellishments: Maya Road
stamp: Autumn leaves
distressing ink: Tim Holtz ranger vintage photo
pearls: basic grey
jewel: Hobby Lobby

Well, I need to get on making dinner. The meatloaf didn't go over so well, **TIP, don't do two batches** So I'm going to salvage them into my spaghetti sauce and chili. I think they taste okay they just aren't "meaty" enough for me. I've made them before and they were great, so just remember the tip!
Thanks for stopping by!

Ah, QUIET!!

No comments:
I'm enjoying the peace and quiet. The boys went to the grocery store, DH wants some bacon to season his dutch oven pans. DD is experimenting in the kitchen making homemade oreos, I know, I'm brave. But if she cleans up her own mess I'm good. That's how my mom taught me, gave me measuring instructions, check the oven instructions, use the oven mitt instructions, then let me have at it. Gave me great confidence to try new things. THANKS MOMMY!!

Oh, what else?
This morning DD and I went on our longest run about 3 1/4 miles, all the way to my parents house. AGAIN she thought she was going to die, and puke, and she couldn't go on...but she made it, ALL THE WAY. I'm VERY proud of her, little does she know that inside I'm thinking, "WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING!!" Ah, the joy of running, NOT!

Okay, enough of that. I FINALLY got to "play" it's been a week and I can only show you a sneak of what I did because it's for an assignment. Again I tried a new technique, and inking....(I know! I'm dangerous!) So here is your sneak and you'll have to wait until Father's day for the full reveal at Creative Scrappers.
I wonder if I can get another page in? I do have another assignment to complete....I have so many fun things to play with. Sure is making me happy to create today! Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your weekend!

Creative Scrappers reveal..and more!

2 comments:
Where have I been? I've been here wondering if my children understand the English language, or they need the wax cleaned out of their ears. It's after talking rather LOUDLY that they finally respond. (and you know that the hearing works just fine!)
DD and I ran for the first time together yesterday morning, we did 2 miles. I was very impressed, SHE thought she was going to die. Why would we do such a thing? Well...we are training for a fun run at the end of July. Truthfully, my quads are talking to me today. Guess we'll have to keep at it so that will go away.

So, remember the teaser I gave a couple posts ago? Here's the whole reveal of sketch #55:
I was really pleased with how it turned out, and even more so because I used from my new stash (usually I look at the new stuff, and ponder on how pretty it is....) And the paper & letters are all FREE stuff I got at CHA. Gotta love that!

I'm noticing the time, I need to run (walk quickly really...) to get myself out the door. Promised the kiddos a swim at the gym today. Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a good one!

Last Night and today.....

3 comments:
so I didn't get to do my optical illusions today for Cub Scout day camp, let's just say I shouldn't quit my day job.  I was heckled by a bunch of 8-10 year old boys!  Telling me, "this isn't magic!  This is Science!"  My come back was, "it's free so BE HAPPY!"  My friend and I continued to do our presentation, with continued, "this isn't magic"  My come back, "well you get what you pay for!"  Do some more of the presentation with more grumblings....finally this kid looks at the others and says, "it's free! REMEMBER?!"   Yeah, a repeat performance?  I think NOT!  DS son took a picture of me:
I think a man designed these shirts!  It almost looks like I buttoned it wrong...and the material DOES NOT breathe, but I like color.  I look a little tired, heck I was up until 11:45  about 3 hours past my bedtime, AND I woke up early.  Ah, well....I had a good time and got laughs out of the other adults! :)

I had a SUPER fun time last night at the crop.  I finished 3 pages albeit 2 don't have journaling but hey, there done!
I'm happy with how this layout turned out, I wanted to sew on it but no sewing machine.  I had a white piece of that swiss dot paper from Bazzill, I inked the bottom half, then did the rest of my layout with scraps of birthday paper, and rubons.  These pictures have been sitting in my to scrap pile for a while so yipee!
With the scraps of the collage pages I made these:
The make and takes:
from the store....
It's an envelope card, it's actually 3 envelopes "glued" together and then covered.  The tops were left alone so that you can slide tags in.  Totally easy and fun, I will definitely have to try this one again.
Shanna's cute make and take:
She was so GENEROUS, everyone one a prize pack of Bo Bunny goodies, THANK YOU I've been eyeing her stickers for awhile, now I have them!  (she designed them herself!--pretty cool!)  The store also had prizes.  I feel like I left with a HAUL.  I don't think I've been to a crop in over a year, I met fun new friends (Hi! friends!), ate yummy goodies, and laughed!  I'm so glad I went, it's worth being tired today!  Well, I really must run we are doing a week long Harry Potter marathon and my kiddos are waiting for me.  Thanks for stopping by!

My Nan & Pop

1 comment:
this was what I wanted to work on Saturday and it had to wait...
I'm real pleased with how it turned out.  This paper is SO fabulous, I was waiting to use it on something special.  When I was going through my "old" pictures I found this one, LOVE these people--my grandparents, they are AWESOME!!  Growing up we visited them in the summer time, hence the butterflies and flowers.  Anyway, I was pleased that the picture sort of matched the paper, good excuse to use it! :)  The fun thing about it, it's actually a paper-color copy of the original my mom gave me, Too cool!  And the bling circle thing started out looking like this:
It didn't work for what I wanted it to do, so I cut it apart (dh said when I explained it to him, "that sounds like a lot of work"--well, ya but it's fun!  Creating it's part of the process!  He did say it was cool--his version of I like it.)  Okay back to the layout I actually stamped on it too, I know don't faint.  :)

I am noticing that I am using lots of exclamation marks, ummm I guess I'm pretty excitable, it's almost like Billy Mays (ya know the guy that's always trying to sell you something on television--did you know he and another guy have a TV show called Pitchmen?  Pretty funny to watch....)

Or maybe it's because I get to be a magician/optical illusionist at Cub Scout Day camp today!  I've been working on a few things, I just wish I could use a black cape & hat and white gloves, that would be cool!  But I have to wear my nice yellow den mom shirt that I sewed the badges on (I'm still pretty proud of the fact that I did that, my secret....I don't sew on clothes...NOPE...just paper!)  Back to day camp, I guess I'm worked up about it because I had a dream that I was in a large auditorium telling jokes and doing my tricks and the crowd was going wild.  Ya, I know....whatever!  I guess the auditorium part came from watching Glenn Beck (don't usually watch him--he did have some interesting things to say.)  before going to bed, HE was in an auditorium.

Or it could be that I'm going to a Crop!  I haven't been to one in who knows how long, but it should be fun!  I'm meeting an online designer friend Shanna Vineyard.  I've been following her blog since I found her over at Two Peas in a bucket .  She's amazingly talented, and very friendly.  When she said she was going to be at a crop at a store 2 minutes from my house.  I HAD to sign up!  (she lives in Virginia--she used to live here and is visiting for the summer.)  Pretty cool huh?!  Well, what to pack.  I never seem to get anything really accomplished at a crop so maybe some card supplies?  I don't know....I did clean out my bag of all non essential items.  But it also houses my secret stash of chocolate. :)  yes, it's going with me!  So at least I have something...

Okay, I realize that this is a mega post, thanks for hanging in there!  Dontcha know I've gotta make up for those days I haven't posted! :)  Thanks for stopping by!

supplies:
pattern paper, stickers, bling, pearls: Basic Grey
ribbon, button: unknown
flower, brads, paper border: Bazzill
letter stickers: American Crafts
stamp: Autumn leaves

My yesterday creations....

3 comments:
so I did get some time to play yesterday--the kiddos ALL went out to play!  It was nice to know they were having fun and would be nice to one another when they got home--that was the plan anyway....
So my daughter plays soccer, actually all my kiddos do.  I thought I should do something with all those pictures I take.  So I printed out the best ones and made a collage.  It came together quickly, the trick is to start with the largest and build around it.  (I know not very technical, but let's face it I'm not technical!)  I even had pictures left over for my daughter to play with.  This page will go along side her team photo, and I will probably not add any journaling, I think they speak for themselves for once.
I was pretty excited about the supplies used.  That strip of paper was in my card making things and was the last bit of that paper, it worked PERFECTLY!  The letters were also leftovers, and the brads were new that I bought from Crop Chocolate.  LOVE them!--they have a one item best priced deal, then after 6pm MST they have another offer for a really low price.  So far I have really only seen Making Memories items.  But I have bought from them twice, their shipping is SUPER quick!

Anyway, for the supplies:
pattern paper: American Crafts
letters: American Crafts
brads: Making memories
cardstock: Bazzill

For the other layout I did my assignment for Creative Scrappers I can't show you the layout just yet (I know how mean!) but here is a closeup of the embellishment:
I'm happy with the results, although it seemed to take forever to find just the right paper!  (I hate it when it takes as long to find the stuff as it does to create..)  The reveal I believe is this Sunday so I'll be able to share then.  I do have a stack of paper with a photo I want to work on today, it's actually been sitting here for a couple of days while my thoughts percolate a little....Hopefully I will be able to make something of it! :)  Thanks for stopping by today!

Today...

2 comments:
started out pretty poopy--yes I said poopy it's my word, I use it all the time--the usual poopiness (yes, it's a word!) kid's not cooperating, house looking like a tornado came through, being late to the gym to my class.  But the I came home looked at my google reader and found out that I WON the Maya Road Memorial Day giveaway!  I NEVER win anything, can I tell you I am SO TOTALLY EXCITED!!!  (I know you my creative friend's will appreciate my excitement DH just doesn't.....)
I've been wanting to play with these flower and stamps! :)  Hee hee!

And then I saw the trailer for New Moon! (It's the second book in the Twilight series--and my favorite)  Hee! hee!
Here it is:

It comes out in November....now that is EXCITING!!  Currently I'm waiting for Transformers, and Harry Potter.  I know I'm all over the board when it comes to entertainment, we still need to see Star Trek (yes, I'm a Trekkie -- however you spell it --it's all my dad's fault, and yes I was in love with Spock and NOT captain kirk, whatever I was like 6)  Anyway, hopefully I will have some time to play.  I had all my stuff out on Saturday and it didn't happen, and Sunday well...yeah forget it.  Anyway,  thanks for stopping by and visiting me today!  Hope you are having a GREAT day! :)
